How to Care for your Car During and After a Fire

Seeing as we have been dealing larger and more ferocious wildfires, we want our customers to know how to properly maintain their vehicles. At Kirby Subaru of Ventura, we want the vehicles our customers own to last them as long as possible, and this is a certain scenario that many people might not know how to handle. Knowledge is the most essential tool when it comes to taking care of your vehicle, and we are here to help you learn everything you will need to know.

Concerning the ash, you don’t want to let it sit on your vehicle for a long time. You'll want to clean out any nook and cranny that it could have gotten in. Using a regular garden hose to get it off is a good start, but you will need to wash it off with soap immediately because water and ash can make a chemical that damages paint if you let it sit.

If you think your windshield wipers need replacing, this is the best time because ash can be stuck underneath them. Even though it resembles dust, it is much more abrasive, meaning it can easily scratch the surfaces that it ends up on.

Make sure you take care of all your filters, including the one in the cabin, to make sure your vehicle can maintain the best performance possible. At Kirby Subaru of Ventura, we will make sure that you are taken care of, helping you know everything that you need to when it comes to your vehicle.
